Here's the deal with this grill...
I'm an engineer and this grill is probably the most logical layout for heating elements vs. placement for an electric grill. The heat is very even, much more so then any gas grill I've cooked on. You can only do so much with 110V and 15A normal house electrical supply in terms of grilling. This grill utilizes the most efficient layout that can be achieved with that electrical supply. The warm up time is to increase the thermal storage capacity of the grill grates/bars and help with searing. It does sear fairly okay and I've cooked on it twice. Is it anywhere near what a cheapo depot Weber imitation gas grill can even achieve in terms of high temp, searing, heat throwing capability? Heck no... I cooked marinated steak tips (flap meat) on it last night and they smoked and sizzled when i placed them on. Did they taste like they came off a charcoal or gas grill. Absolutely not. I cooked some whole chicken breasts afterwards and they...
